Who am I and what am I up to?
I have a full time job as an Applied Scientist at Microsoft. More specifically, I work in Bing Location Understanding, powering Bing Maps to understand location tokens in queries. I graduated in December 2020 from Northeastern University with a Masters in Computer Science. As a part of my degree, I completed two internships, one at Microsoft as an Applied Scientist and the other as a Software Engineer Intern at Flatiron Health. Prior to that, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2015 and then moved to Hong Kong for 3 years. There, I was doing research on the interface of neuroscience and robotics. How, when & why I moved to Computer Science is a story that needs much more space than this introduction.
What can you find on this website?
On an everyday basis, I get a lot of questions about life as an international student in the United States, how I transitioned into computer science, my experience giving software engineering interviews and getting offers from companies such as Microsoft, Flatiron Health, Morgan Stanley, Visa and Intuit to name a few. I fully believe that I had a lot of help in reaching where I am today, and I hope to give back by answering the questions that I get - it so happens that having a blog is the easiest way to answer the most common questions that people ask me.
I also personally find myself a productive person and there are a lot of hacks that I have tried through the years. I find myself wanting to talk about those, about books I read and things I learn. This website may not be a 100% reflection of who I am but I would like to put bits and parts up.
How can you contact me if you have specific questions?
I fully intend to monitor the messages I get from the Contact Me section on this website, so that should be the easiest way to get in touch with me. All of my social media is linked as well, out of which I happen to get back most quickly on Instagram so take your pick!
