So, what’s next?

Reading Time : 4 minutes

Day 29/30.

There are two things we need to talk about in this article : 1) What’s next for me now that my vacation period is ending? 2) What’s next for this blog now that my 30-day challenge is ending?

When I started this 30 day challenge, my workload was on the opposite spectrum of what it is today. While I will no longer look forward to writing every single day of every single week, I do hope to push at least one article each week. One of my disappointments during this 30-day period was that I could not write in as much detail about some of the topics that I wanted to. It was mostly because I was writing the article on the same day that I was publishing it - so my goal was consistency and making sure I was “building” something, as little as it might be. It had been a to-do-task of mine for the longest time to start my website and put up a chunk of my knowledge on the web. However, it took me close to 2 years to finally do it, and as they say, it takes at least 4 weeks to build a habit. This was my attempt at those 4 weeks to start loving and cherishing my website - and now I can actually begin writing more substantial stuff.

This challenge was also supposed to be learning and sharing, but truth be told, I did a lot more sharing of things I knew already and less learning. I realised early into the challenge that I could focus on only one of the two - because doing both simultaneously, daily, is excruciatingly difficult. So now, I have a new plan. I am going to learn some days, and share on some. This means, that there will be a lot more research going into the things that I write about, and the posts will hopefully be about new things that I learn. On the other hand, the posts about productivity, hacks and trips, will of course, look very similar to how they have looked until now - raw and unfiltered. And I think that is what has separated my posts from those on other platforms - I don’t want the tips I give to be generic - I want to be able to give anecdotes of how I actually use those tips or came up with certain hacks.

We will come back to what are the actual topics you may be able to expect, once we are done talking about what my plans are. Vacation is officially over, as is my temporary joblessness. I will be working full-time as a (remote) software engineering intern starting June 3rd. I am very excited honestly, and if you haven’t seen my video about getting ready for the internship, may be you’ll like it if you have read so far. The project has requirements of knowledge and tools that I have not worked with before so it will be a learning curve, one that I am excited to go on. Other than that I am taking an online course at school which takes up more time that I thought it will but I am also learning various aspects of being in a team, learning and developing new software engineering skills. I have also been slacking on my Spanish so I am going to allocate a little more than 10 minutes everyday for that. Other than that I am enrolled in a few Coursera courses, and I need to finish them up to get certificates. I like to keep my weekdays packed, but I really enjoy free-ish Friday nights and Saturdays. Seattle weather has been beautiful, and summer is the most beautiful time here anyway - so I want to be able to keep my weekends free and enjoy the sun - while it lasts and being socially distant of course. ☺️ So in the next few weeks, you can expect a lot of videos about working remotely from home, staying productive and a lot of self-care. I will also write about the new processes, systems and concepts that I learn, as always trying to help you build an intuition. A lot of you seem to like my LeetCode walkthroughs, so I will probably keep making those as well but I really need a heads up about what questions you really want to see.

Thank you so much for supporting me in this challenge, sending me your questions & feedback, and helping me check off that goal of starting my website. I am excited to share the rest of my journey and learning with you, and I can’t wait for us to grow together ✨
